Mac Mini specs

MessageAuthor

I have a friend who wants to get into Pro tools and I'm wondering if the new Mini Mac's & an M Box are a viable entry point in to PT for him. Is the entry level Mini Mac with 512K RAM enough machine. I'm assuming he would need an extra external HD too. Thanks for the input!

512K of RAM? No, but 512M will get you going. I'd just go for 1024M immediately. My Mac mini (1.42Ghz, 80G drive, 1024M RAM) works well with Digi 002 - but I haven't tried it with Mbox.

Oops! I meant Meg!! Are you running an external hard drive with it too?

I have external Firewire drives, but it worked pretty well on the internal drive. Anyway, sold my 002 last week ... I'm home-studio-less again - soon to be homeless (by choice).
