Set media item to source boundaries?

MessageAuthor

How to set media item to source boundaries via action? Only close action I've found is 'Item: Set items length to source media lengths' but this only enlarges/shrinks the end of the item, but not the beginning.

RE: Set media item to source boundaries?

Upon further check, there is something funny about this action. It does seem to visibly get the item back to the original length, but when played back, it will only play back the length the item was before the action was used. Play cursor simply stops even while there is still some item left to play. An example: Item source originally 2 seconds. It has been resized to one second. Using this action, the item length goes back to 2 seconds, but it will only play back to 1 second. This problem comes up only if the given item is the last one on the current project timeline. If there are any other items later on the timeline on other tracks, everything plays through fine. Also, if this item is e.g. moved just a tiny bit, playback will be normal. Almost like the move will update the project end marker, which the action itself didn't do?

Thanks for the headsup FnA, that does seem like similar/related issue.

Is the OP's original action still a thing? I couldn't find it in action list

Looks like it has changed to Item: Set item start/end to source media start/end?
