It has it's uses. I've used it on drum overheads and vocals. It puts kind of a nice highend sheen on whatever is in front of it. For $70 with a shockmount it's a no-brainer to have another mic in the arsenal. I believe GuitarCenter has it and the 991 small condenser in a combo deal for $100.

So far, I've only done some test tracks with the Apex 435 on Acoustic Guitar and Vocals. I like it - esp. on acoustic guitar with the bass rolloff engaged.
When i was over with IntelDoc we used the Apex on acoustic guitar. Sounded pretty much killer, and he told me that some people preferred the Apex over MUCH more expensive mic's......It's one heck of a little good cheap mic. (The Apex that is....)
Here is another one. Quick mix, and rough. This was done with Bastiaan in da house too! Cannot wait to redo this one... It is a tad hot on the vocals, but still kinda nice... This was done with 3 mics at once too, so when we redo it, the vocals will be tracked separately.... Should turn out nice... - Doc
