iLock and \'Authorize\' Help Please

Hey guys, Can someone please explain what the purpose of the $40 iLock is? Everytime that I run PTLE 7.1 I get the 'Authorize' or 'Quit' message. How does this work?

I just installed 7.1 as well. The authorize message is looking for you to enter the number on the front inside cover (or next page) of your manual. It starts with a DIGI0710............ All o's are zero's and type the letters following the DIGI in the case they are (most likely lower case). The ilok is for running plugins like the factory bundle. You plug that into a USB port and it let's you use the plugins.

Hmmm... So to run the Bomb Factory PlugIns all you need is the CD and the iLok? Reason why I am asking is because the guy from GuitarCenter threw in a BombFactory Blue CD in with my MBox 2 Mini and I don't know how to install these Bombfactory plugins or even if they are usable at all..... Also when i hit Authorize it does not ask me for a code, I can simply press Quit and record normal...

Sorry I tried answering the hardware authorize and the software authorize at the same time. If he "threw in" the blue cd it should have been shrink wrapped with the ilok. So it looks like you have to buy the ilok and let Digi or ilok know that you have a legit' copy of factory. The CD usually comes with the ilok device as part of the package.

The iLock has nothing to do with Pro Tools authorization. It's for bundled plug-ins only. You authorize Pro Tools with code included in your documentation. Used to be on the inside cover of the Getting Started Guide...These days, I understand it's on the CD packaging.

So to add to this... then that means that the bundled Bomb Factory... Fosusrite etc plugins that are included on the pro tools le install are buy and authorize only?

Yes. They are included as a courtesy for users who already own them so that they don't have to download the installers or updaters.
