Can I use half D1 (CVD)?

Advertising

MessageAuthor

I'd like to be able to back-up a DVD-9 to a DVD-5 and keep everything. But I'd like to re-encode the movie to CVD resolution (which is DVD compliant) and use half the birate to save the size. I'm already used to doing SVCD's and CVD's and I am very pleased with the quality. Is there a program that can do this, but allow me encode with CCE to get the required resolutions? Do I need to use a few different programs to achieve my goal? Any pointers appreciated. GGS

No, none of these programs can change anything other than the bitrate of the video. They operate in the "compressed domain" which means they are unaware of resolution, framerate, etc. If you want to use CCE maybe dvd2dvd-r can be tweaked for this, or one of the programs in

U can click the Half Horizontal Resolution in the video tab of CCE to get the half d1 u want. Note however that CCE would still assign the bitrate as if it was a full d1 resolution so u need to manually halven the max bitrate. Edit: average bitrate

oddyseus: Thanks for that, but I am a bit confused as to why I would need to half the Max bitrate? If you meant the Avg bitrate then I'm with you, otherwise?
