what about the bass?

MessageAuthor

I'd need an advice about the bass sound. It's a very short snippet out of a new piece. So far i like the sound but something's missing i guess. Since 4 weeks my right ear is nearly deaf so it's even more difficult for me to judge it by myself. The bass chain is Freeamp3 crusty preset with a little delay, speaker 1x15 Bass JS Guitar/amp-model with Fender Bassman.wav ReaComp with stock - Driving Rock Bass preset ReaEQ with pipelineaudio - Basic 11band Rock Bass Liteon Bass Manager with 0.91 boost at 90 Hz (too much??? or simply crappy???) Help is much appreciated. Michael

It sounds fine, but I prefer my bass sounds to be more "bassy". But it sounds like you're using it more as a lead instrument there. The clip is really too short to judge it.

THe mid-high (for bass, that is) sounds good, but no bottom.

The bass guitar seems to be used as a lead in this, so for that role I'd bring it more forward by lowering, and carving a space, in the piano harmony. And since the lead is assumed by the bass, I'd try to bring the lower register of the piano up a bit to fill in the sound and see how that goes.
