I put 4 songs into one project file for easy mixing. When I render the songs as AIFF Files they crackle. I've lowered the Master Level to "-20 DB" and still it crackles! (See screenshot at highest level.) None of the levels are very high. The funny thing is if I go to the original single song Files with the Master Fader at "0" and render to AIFF there is no crackle at all. (Here is the single song and ALL songs with I'm having trouble with, especially the 2nd track, sans media files, if that helps at all.) Any ideas?

I'd be happy to put it up in Dropbox, however, All Songs is in a Folder container no media files. (See screenshot.) Can I import the files somehow, or at least tell which media files a certain song is using?
ReaperCurious said: Try to leave your master fader at zero on the dial. if you get overs, select all your volume faders and grab the loudest track's fader and bring them all down until your peak is around -6 on the master bus. I've lowered the Master Fader levels so it doesn't peak at the -6 as in Master Fader Screenshot and even lowered the song levels to as in the Levels screenshot. The crackling is only after rendering to AIFF File, it plays back fine at all levels. The is particularly bad on the 2nd song, the verse w/voice and guitar to "These Foolish Things".
Someone showed me in Window>Equaliser in iTunes I had the the Preamp on while in Manual position. I took this off and the crackling stopped. I had tested my rendered song as a Quicktime File and it sounded fine, so this was a clue that a setting in iTunes was to be changed. Of course if I mixed everything perfectly this probably wouldn't be an issue, but still this is the solution for future Mac users :-) Happy Holidays everyone!

I have this strange crackle problem when the signal is strong. However my 15 tracks top each no more than -11dB and the master no more than -6dB without any plugs and it still crackles (see here: ) I solved it by lowering all the faders for 4 dB so master would peak at -11dB. But why so? I do not get it why it had any problems before?

Hmmm - you missed the point I guess. If you can hear it on soundcloud then it just is broken. No other player would help there. It happens in the Reaper interface already (maybe the thread title is confusing you).
