Chipmunks syndrome

MessageAuthor

I just bought a new interface (TC electronics konnekt 8) I got everything hooked up and working, except 2 things. Everything is playing at mach speed chipmunk style and another project won't open and hangs Reaper. I think if I get the chipmunk thing ironed out it will fix the hanging problem. Everything was working fine with the previous interface. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks as always! All updated drivers are installed to latest and great from TC's website.

Thanks for replying. :) I made sure that the sample rates are the same in both 44.1, in options I can only choose TC Near or asio4all, but if I choose asio4all it will not allow the choice to choose the konnekt. It only shows the audigy card. So I choose TC Near which then shows konnekt thru spdif. I am using spdif as my monitors are digital. I was using m-audio firewire solo and didn't have a problem. I have removed anything to do with M-audio. Thanks again for the help!

Does anyone know what generally causes the playback to be too fast? sample rate? bit rate? mismatch. I'll have a chance to go through it again this weekend but was looking for more ideas of the possible cause.

RE: Chipmunks syndrome

Its working now. It was actually the wave itself. For some reason if I played the wave in i-tunes it played just as fast. It was one audio track of a guitar riff I recorded a while ago and I was using that to test. Why it plays back at that speed I don't know it wasn't recorded that way. I don't how much longer I can stick with using Reaper. I upgraded and now as usual with every time I upgrade and some times randomly upgrade or not, half or more of my projects won't load and reaper either hangs or crashes. I am talking about maximum 18 tracks which are all audio except drums on 1 track. very limited plug-ins also. I want to record, not fiddle with trying to get Reaper to work every time I launch it. It sort of takes the creativity out of your sails when you spend an hour or more trying to get it to work every other day. I have given Reaper every benefit of the doubt when it comes to trying to get a stable consistently usable product but it just isn't happening. Who am I? nobody. Just someone who has projects to finish and wants to get a quality recording in the end without worrying if when I launch Reaper is it going to work today. sorry rant off.

Not sure what your problem is beside's track playing to fast. For me,once I have Reaper set up(configured)I never have to re-config on updates. It does that automaticly. Really not sure wht your hang up is. Can you give more details? Bardo
