I agree, I would not consider a car without it. But I spend up to 3 hours in the car daily. So I guess it depends on your use. Yes you can disconnect it if it fails.

I bought a warranty for my car & it covers the air con, turbo etc have a look on and price one up :D

Its a bonus if aircon is fitted to a car you intend to buy. But I certainly wouldnt pay a lot extra for it. The weather in this country just doesnt warant it. Plus it makes a significant difference to fuel economy. If the aircon stops working on a car you just leave it switched off. If you do switch it on the compressor shouldnt run as there is a pressure switch fitted to prevent it. Simon
