C70 T5 auto - excellent economy !

Hi All, I've had my T5 for a few days now and I must say that on a motorway it is pretty economical ! Long motorway journey (160 miles) - 35 mpg On top of all this I was driving at a nice pace for the complete trip....now if I had driven at steady 70mph I think the average would have been near 36-37 mpg !!!! So all in all excellent. On the negitive side, I think only 18 mpg is possible around town! So combined about 26.5.... Now I know it is a T5 auto and economy is not top of my list BUT I am really suprised.... Thanks for listening. IceBoy PS. On long continental motorway journeys I tend to find that the mpg falls back to just under 30 - but then that is cruising at well over the UK limit! But I'd agree that the low 30s is realistic for reasonably legal M-way cruising. As a general guide, I reckon on about 300 miles out of a tank full when driving mostly round town, with up to 450 on a long M-way run (except sur le continent when 400 from a tank would be good going)

I managed to get 37mpg average in my V70 T5 :-) on a journey from Bristol to Warrington, Cheshire last year. I was following a vintage lorry I'd bought and our speed never went over 50mph. I didn't reset the dash mpg readout and it's now settled back down to 25mpg :-(
