P4 and hyper-threading

MessageAuthor

Has anyone experience any problems with hyper-threading? I've had great luck with it until I tried capturing video and encoding it. I captured to HuffyUV, no problems. But then I used VirtualDub to filter and store it using Morgan MJPEG. VirtualDub would always lock at a certain spot with HT on - I have since talked to a VD developer who confirmed this as a rare but existing bug to be fixed in 1.5.7 Using other encoders I have no problem - until I try to convert the captured file in MJPEG (erased the original to get space). Whatever program I use it seems 95% of the way complete the program locks in an endless-loop. So now I'm wondering if maybe the morgan mjpeg codec is having HT issues? anyone else have any experiences???

Well, I can't speak for MJPEG, but the HT-function does behave strangely with various programs. Try turning HT off in the BIOS and encode again.
