A BIG help, please.

MessageAuthor

Do an uninstall once more. Do the SampleTank install again, taking a screenshot of every window of the install process and post them here so we can have a look at them. Can you find out where Cubase finds SampleTank VSTi (that is, the dll file)? What VST paths have you defined in Cubase?

RE: A BIG help, please.

OK guys...here's the scoop: I AM NOW STRAIGHT WITH REAPER, AND MY PLUGINS. Guess where I found the 'searched for' files? In my 'C' drive's "ProgramData" folder. Following the blueprint laid out to me, by you guys, I was able to get Reaper to call up & register ALL of my plugins. I am so relieved and happy, now, that I just don't know what to do with myself :). Tomorrow, though, I will be sitting down in front of the computer - with my controller before me - and laying down some tracks. Again, I am so deeply appreciative of everything that you all came to my aid with. I will be a part of this forum for a mighty long time to come, and can only hope that I will learn enough so that "I" will be able to help someone else. One other thing: When (and take notice that I said WHEN, not IF) I hit the lottery, each and every one of your names will be remembered ;). I wish blessings upon each and every one of you, and your respective families.

RE: A BIG help, please.

Phew! :) Installing the dll files into C:\ProgramData\... sounds a bit odd to me (I don't have Vista). That folder is normally used by programs storing data files. Maybe that's the folder Cubase defaulted to? In your position, I would consider uninstalling the VST(i)s and reinstalling them. It is generally Ok for the programs themselves to go iinto the default folder suggested by the installer program, but the VSTs should go into their own sub-folders in a different area. For example "C:\VST_Plugins_32\Samplers" could be a good one for SampleTank. But, before you do that, check that it will be Ok for Cubase. ------------------ Just a thought, "User Access (Account?) Control" can restrict access to some folder trees (especially C:\Windows and C:\Program Files) - is this enabled for your user account or have you turned it off, and is your Account an "administrator"?

Darkstar is on the right track...there was also a thread on this over a Cubase.net. You need to install as Administrator, run the .dll as Admin, or something to that effect. I have always had an Admin account so I have been running SampleTank 2.x just fine with Reaper. JR
