howdy Nate.... let me start by saying that before reaper, cubase was my 'go to' DAW... but these days it's very rare that open it. I keep it around because sometimes I get someones project to work on that is a cubase project. That said, let's look again at your info: What you don't tell us is what your audio card set up is? Do you have a real ASIO additional audio card or do you use something like ASIO4ALL with the audio that is built in to your computer? Next... when you show where your ST is installed... you must also have a folder where the vst and vsti parts get installed. If you did not ever create a special folder for that the default will likely be this: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins In that folder should be the SampleTank2.x.dll In reaper, in the preferences window, you will see in the left side [near the bottom] a Plug-ins heading and just under that VST. In the right hand side when you have VST selected, you will see a field at the top that says: VST plug-in paths (can be multiple paths separated by semicolons) to the right of that is an Add button... clk that Add button and make sure that what you see in the field includes the default VSTPlugins folder path. You an also put in a semicolon, and Add the path to where you have ST installed for good measure. Then click the 'Clear cache/re-scan' button below that field. Let reaper complete that re-scan. Close it and restart it. Now look in your FX Browser: In the left side scroll to the top and hi lite ALL Plugins, and now in the Filter list at the bottom type in SampleTank.... you should see the VSTi version of ST... now just drag it onto any empty trak... I can tell you more if you get that far. Let me say it again... IF you get into reaper, you, like me, may never use cubase again. You have been fairly warned!!! :)
There's absolutely no need to be "resigned". Have a look at my replies and hopi's - and let us know the answers. Then we can help you out. Many, many people are using ST2 successfully in Reaper.
Did you by some chance install ST as a DXi and not as a VSTi? Just had to ask, as I'm running it fine day in and day out and was wondering if we are looking for it in the wrong location. <<TS>>

1 Does SampleTank VSTi show up in your other hosts (not Reason, of course)? 2 Where is the SampleTank VSTi installed? Can you post the complete path name? 3 Can you find these 2 files: reaper.ini and reaper-vstplugins.ini? They are both in the hidden folder, C:\Documents and Settings\DarkStar\Application Data\REAPER, here, on Windows XP. Then post them as attachments on this thread. --------------- PS: You won't need to install the DXi or RTAS versions for Reaper.
Just for the record I am not a programmer so all the below information is just an assumption. Are you sure that it automatically saves the vst dll file in the Ik multimedia folder. For some of the plugins that I have installed it allows you to have a separate location for the main files and then asks where you have your vst folder and that is where it puts the dll file. When the plugin is opened the dll file refers to the programs folder containing the rest of the data to open the plugin. Perhaps you have a dll that can't find the other files, and can't open the plugin, Reaper then perhaps marks this dll as not working so when a duplicate dll file appears in the vst scan (one that might work) Reaper perhaps skips that dll. In short I would make sure you do not have more than one of the same dll file for that plugin.

Try a search on you drive(s) for: SampleTank2.x.dll That is what the VST plugin file is called on my system. And yes, the installer asks YOU where to put it. So be sure and remember where you installed it. If you can find the .dll on your system just add that location to the VST folders.

You are right about the location. I'm on XP and my DLL is in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VSTplugins - while the program files are in C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\Sampletank 2.5 Hopefully you can get to the bottom of this mystery.
Do you have a vst folder? Is the Sampletank dll in it? If you can't find the ST dll in the vst folder then look to see where it is. It may have installed into a different folder or created a 2nd vst folder somewhere. You van either move the ST dll into the vst foldewr that you're others vst are in or you can add a path in Reaper Options to look in additional folders. It will eventually work. Lots of us use ST. It works fine in Reaper.
