Copying Settings Between Two Sessions

Advertising

MessageAuthor

I got two versions of a song. One is a radio edit the other an album version. I have mixed the radio edit to the final stage, but now I want the album version to have the same mix. Both sessions have same number of tracks and same plugs on. Is there a way of simply copying all the mix data like volume rides, panning, send levels and all the plug in settings from the finished radio edit to the half mixed album version?

One way, which is a little cumbersome, is to import session data. IE Save a copy of the mixed track, then open the copy. Delete all of the audio (NOT from the audio bin). Save and close the session. Then import these empty tracks into the unmixed session, and cntrl+slide all of the unimxed audio tracks into the imported tracks. Voila.

thanks so much guys. not near a system to try it at mo so forgive for asking, but does this also copy the plug ins and their settings. if so GREAT! if not what is the best work around to do that? P.S. special thanks to Big2Fish for thinking so laterally and inventively....I do it all the time!

very simple. you don't have to copy the whole session. just do a save as with a new title. then open the new title and go to import session data and select what you want from the old title. (plugins, volume settings etc.) it is an easy process and a great tool to explore. have fun.
