in part 2 it says :- Now press the Save&Encode button which brings up the encoder tab: but it doesnt it brings up a file dialog, so i closed it and went looking for the settings it showed, found them on the encoder tab, tried to go from their but i handt created the avs synth file as i didnt realise that thats what it was going to do. Eventually after about half an hour I went back and hit save when it brought up the file dialog and THEN the encoder tab appeared. Ahhhh NOW I SEE!! Can you please update the guide so others don't have to suffer. Anyway I followed the rest of the guide and it didn't work - I dunno why maybe cos the audio that dvd2avi produced was a .mpa file. What a convoluted way of getting nowhere. I have used it before on dvd vobs but it doesnt seem to work with .mpgs - is there a way to make it work . To be honest I've wasted about 2 days on a simple ideal of mpeg->divx and it is still as ridiculously convoluted as ever - no wonder not many people bother. For DVD rips now I would just uses dvd2one and make a dvd as making a divx is still a total pain in the ****. And I spent years writing in assembly language as a kid so its not the technical problems that gets me its just the total insanity of the whole thing - yer I'm frustrated - if i had the time/interest I'd write a proper program to do it but other projects are of more interest/need - I've tried about 5 diff methods of mpg->divx and guordian is deffo the stupidiest, prolly great for dvd's but... I have found issues in other doom9 guides, which defeats their purpose, You ought to get a non techie computer user to step through the guides as you watch (or irc) to see where things are innacurate. Not saying they aren't very much appreciated BUT it is maddening when they r wrong in places and you get frustrated trying to guess the next bit. (on latest dvd2avi some menus have moved around which makes dvd2avi guide confusing to (if u use latest dvd2avi))
