Sound activated recording?

MessageAuthor

So I'm sitting in the thinking room and I realized that it should be pretty trivial to make Reaper start recording when the level goes above a certain threshold. I load up ReaGate on a track, check the "Send MIDI on open/close", then on the same track, load MIDI to ReaControlPath vst. Told it to route control midi and eat the other stuff, 'cuz I don't need it. Added midi note 69 to "Transport: Record" action. And the same midi note 69 to "Transport: Pause" "Main (alt recording)". Lo and behold, it doesn't quite work. It will start recording but immediately pause recording. I'm so close I can smell it, but not quite there. Has anyone done this? What am I doing wrong? BTW - I'm once-again impressed with Reaper's versatility. Love it!!!!

A quick guess would be that maybe they shouldn't both act on midi note 69.

Hmmmm... that makes a new hurdle then. ReaGate has provision to only send one note. Is there any other plug in that will send one note when signal goes above a threshold and send a different one when signal goes below? Thanks for the replies!

Blechi Thank you! Interestingly, the example in the other thread (recording from a scanner) was the thing that motivated me to ask this question in the first place! Can't wait to try this.
