Go to Options --> Show Reaper ressource path... and open the ColorThemes folder. In your theme folder, you can modify the midi_note_colormap.png image : (dimensions : 157 * 130) I've made this image for me as a reference : From top to bottom : * 64 pixels : note gradient (unselected) * 1 pixel : border (unselected) * 64 pixels : note gradient (selected) * 1 pixel : border (selected) From left to right : * 12 pixels : pitch colors * 128 pixels : velocity colors * 1 pixel : mute color * 16 pixels : channels colors. In your case, with this file ... ... it looks like this :
nice work Bernstraw... one thought... IF the theme is running from a zip, he would not find the pngs unless he unzip's it to a folder first.. right? but still... in V4 we can load midi colormaps on the fly.. so we are not stuck with what is in the theme at all....

Recent thread regarding: "MIDI Editor 'Color: Track/Item' Note Border Color" Note: This color mode does not make use of the MIDI_note_colormap.png. I'm mentioning it here since, for the most part, the user can't change the appearance (such as note border thickness.)
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but is there any way to maintain a defined color note map and at the same time indicate the velocity by that notes color intensity? The two are completely different methods (single color notes, but with velocity showing in saturation, or multi-color notes and no velocity. Why not both? --Bill
