HI Paddington, i'm highly interested in this function and i think that this one should be a lot useful also for other users..... i'm working on a srt file extrated with SubRip with the 'extended option (with picture's coordinate)' feature checked (under output format menu) and so i have an output like that: ... 160 00:09:35,188 --> 00:09:39,488 X1:219 X2:498 Y1:363 Y2:418 That is, until one day, and one man. 161 00:09:45,698 --> 00:09:48,633 X1:162 X2:556 Y1:363 Y2:423 Beano Cook: As you look back at the 20th century, 162 00:09:48,701 --> 00:09:51,761 X1:157 X2:560 Y1:056 Y2:116 the roaring '20s is one of the most important decades ... as u can see some subpictures are rendered at the screen's top due to an intereference with others over impressions in the original movie. it's at any time possible that SC should use these position info on an automatic basis so we can render back the sup file properly? (and no need never more to re-adjust vertical positioning manually?) thanks for your attention and of course for such a great program spud_2011

Hehe, no I think it would be very useful, too, spud_2011. I've sent Paddington a mail about this around the time you posted your initial post, and he replied that it sounded interesting and he'd take a look. The problem is that Paddington is not very active here at the forum and it's been many months since the last version of SubtitleCreator came out... :( You could try sending him a p.m. about it. I think the more users push for new features the easier it'd be to get him started again :)

I'm afraid the extended subrip format doesn't take well into account subs which contain more than two lines per "subpicture". Consider these: 40 00:05:58,691 --> 00:06:01,060 X1:126 X2:593 Y1:061 Y2:423 Stills: Hashiyama Naomi. Film Development: Tokyo Labs. Production Advancement: Tanno Hiroaki Begrieving snow falls... in the dead morning... 44 00:06:21,247 --> 00:06:21,547 X1:182 X2:540 Y1:062 Y2:423 Starring: Kaji Meiko I walk with the weight of the Milky Way on my shoulders... 668 01:02:59,609 --> 01:03:02,669 X1:144 X2:575 Y1:061 Y2:422 "Call me disloyal, or a traitor, that's okay. I don't mind being a traitor." So now we have... another girl seeking vengeance. 863 01:37:03,317 --> 01:37:13,283 X1:232 X2:477 Y1:105 Y2:368 DVD Production Team Paul Laughter Sara Rouse Production Assistance Bobby Engelmann Brian Godwin Thomas Wells Branson Moore The credit lines and the quote belong to the top of the frame, and dialogue to the bottom. No app could tell 100% accurately which lines are credits, which dialogue, which extended top frame information for explaining foreign terms, and so on. Granted, you could make some kind of so-so compromise, but honestly, I don't think you can reconstruct sub positioning as it's seen on dvd with the extended subrip format without some (heavy) amount of manual editing, depending on the complexity of the subs. But, subrip with .ass positioning support, now that would be something else :)

contacted paddington via p.m. and he told me that he's interested in it. maybe he should integrate this function in the next relaese... (it shouldn't be too complicate, he said) :D THANKS PADDINGTON

Well, you're right, it wouldn't help me a whole lot. However, as the main purpose of the app is to create new subtitles to be added to DVDs, it would be nice to be able to preview the DVD with the existing subtitles. Or even use SC to preview the final result, too. To have it all-in-one, without having to start up a software player... (I know, a luxery kinda thing!)
