Actual wires for drag & drop routing

good idea. for the plug-in section only tho. dont think i could handle busses & auxes like this. altho, it could be cool to be able to wire a plugin straight into an aux. bit excessively flexible, but you could do some cool stuff like send a massivley distorted signal to a global dely. i know this could be done with multiple channels, but making everything accessible always wins hearts!

the thing about reason is that the wires are in the back, it would get messy if the mixer had wires all over it

nah, have button that show fx routing. window pops up that let you wire fx how you want (internal to a track) and add channels to a track. have an aux-send box, lets you add sends as well. also pick up other channel's sends to route where you want. if youve used reason, it will make sense. but instead of having a graphic of the 'front' of the fx rack (all the vst skins etc), just have a generic box with a masking-tape style label with the FX name, and the inputs & outputs

I could handle wires on the front, but maybe being able to flip the rack around like Reason would be clearer generally. Doesn't even have to be amazing graphics. It could just be like the 'wires' in Reaktor or Synthedit. :)

I'd love to be able to "show the wires" with a key command. +1
