Drumcore is a great program, if that's the kind of functionality you're looking for. If it works for you, go for it. Discrete Drums is a totally different animal, but sound great as well. As I exlained in our personal email exchange, and I am now repeating here, you don't need a MIDI controller to use BFD. Most times it makes things much easier, but it is not a necessity. You can sequence the beats on the grid in PT with the pencil tool. (Covered in the . BFD Lite has several different modes of operation, one being the Groove Librarian. Using the Groove Librarian is covered in the PDF that comes with BFD. With the groove librarian, you can play a pre-programed loop with a single MIDI note. As expected, since you don't have a MIDI controller, anywhere that it says "Use your MIDI keyboard", you would use the pencil tool in PT to trigger those sounds. You can also audition the sounds by ctrl+clicking the keyboard on a Pro Tools MIDI track.
