RE: mic for metal recording (vocal)

I love the Sure SM7 or SM7B for loud rock type vocals, but for the guttural metal scream/growl nothing beats an SM58. SM58>mic pre>comp/limiter>DAW I used to have 2 SM58's I kept around for this purpose. I was recording a lot of this type of music at the time. These singers HATED performing to a mic on a stand. To get a good performance out of them I had to go hand held. I taped some acoustic foam around the mic 'handle' and let them go at it. It worked pretty well. As a poster said above, the Green Bullet can work OK as well, but I prefer the SM58.

I used an SM57 for this a few days ago, worked perfectly well.
