New Products?

Hey, Just wondering if there are any new rumors floating out there about new products that may be coming out anytime soon? When is the earliest we could expect new products? AES in January? I'm really wanting to get a portable Pro Tools setup but the MBox just isn't gonna cut it. I've thought about Logic Express 7/ M-audio Firewire 410, but I'd really like to stay with Pro Tools. Maybe Digi will make PT7 work with M-Audio interfaces? Or maybe they'll come out with a Firewire 800 MBox... how would that be for a christmas gift?

AES was two weeks ago in San Fran... next one is in May, 2005 in Barcelona. M-audio hardware is basically not very special.

So I guess next spring should be full of new products... apprently Tiger is slated around that time, and maybe PT7? It'd be awesome if they came out with a firewire Mbox... oh and Powerbook G5s... or maybe PT 6.8? haha

Hello. What is it about the current Mbox that doesn't 'cut it' as you say, but a Firewire version would? They won't offer any more inputs. Their lower offering has always been 2 stereo in and out plus SPDIF, no MIDI. AMIII card as an example. So they wouldn't add any of that. What's your issue with the current USB? As for Tiger, it is slated for release around June '05. However, applications won't be ready for it for a while after that. They are almost never ready when a new Mac OS is released. Pro Tools has never been before, so why should it be now. So a Pro Tools version that would be Tiger compatible is probably at least a year away, for AES New York in October '05. And if Tiger is delayed in any way, well you know. Pro Tools 7.0 is supposed to be released by Summer NAMM '05.

The 002 is fine at sharing the Firewire port with a drive, at least on my PC. It doesn't work as well (sharing the firewire) with current versions of OS X, but that might be an Apple problem. An updated, Firewire Mbox, with MIDI, and without the source mixer, would be nice. Get the thing to run at low buffer settings, and supply the DSP required for LLM. And somehow get some monitor outputs with a volume control. The new PreSonus Firebox looks good to me.
