how do you swing?

Are you working with audio or midi? The swing quantize works OK for me with midi. Making audio swing is a bit more tricky. Pete

Try 12/8 signature timing, not 4/4. It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing ..... :)

I've been experimenting a lot with swing feel recently and I'm finding some things don't always quite sit on that 12/8 (triplet) or 24/16 (16th swing) feel. For example, when I first started on the the swing section in the James Bond Theme, I tried a triplet 12/8 time, but it didn't sound quite right. After loads of time spent on different settings, I ended up with the setting shown in the picture below. You can see that the notes are not quite as delayed as 1/12 (or 1/8T). This is what was used for the swing section in the clip in this post at 41s (see link below). Also, on a tune I'm working on at the moment, which I thought had a 1/24 type time, I couldn't quite get the right feel and, after loads of experimenting, ended up with the following settings. You can see that the timings don't quite sit on 1/24 (or 1/16T). Another thing, which I think might be a bug. If I make a quantization setting in a new project, Reaper applies this to older projects when I open them. Surely quantization settings should be project specific. Pete
