I have Digi001 running ProToolsLE. As we all know, once you have a completed session, you can only "Bounce to Disc" in a few formats (WAV, AIFF, and a couple others) MP3 is not included in this list... I'm an artist/aspiring producer engineer who is looking to collaborate with others, and will soon be creating a website. I'm simply looking for the lowest cost software program that would take a "bounced to disc" ProTools session, and convert it to MP3 (in order to send it to MP3.Com and others, and to have clips people can click on my website) If any of you out there are regularly converting ProTools sessions to MP3, HOW ARE YOU GUYS DOING IT? (Recommendations?) I was told by some official Guitar Center "counter dudes" that the only way to do this is to buy Cubase VST...huh?? is this correct?? Please give any advice....THANKS
RE: Cheapest way to convert ProTools Files to MP3???
You can do it for FREE with iTunes (free apple music software - comes with OS 9.2) The quality isn't absolute top of the line, but it's also far from the worst I've ever heard, and you can't beat the price!
RE: Cheapest way to convert ProTools Files to MP3???
There's an MP3 option that can be bought on the Digidesign website...It's a shame we have to pay for this... There are other options though. Do a search on MP3, here's what can be found for example:

iTunes. I never noticed a difference in quality with the previous mp3 encoder I used....which was free too. Is there such a big sonic improvement when you upgrade to a paying mp3 encoder such as the digidesign optional one?
RE: Cheapest way to convert ProTools Files to MP3???
Great thanks to everybody who responded, I'll print those answers out and take them with me to get started-I'm using a Mac G4 so that free Mac download sounds like a good place to start- I am familiar with SoundJam but I think the SoundJam version I used was a demo and was just an MP3 player- Thanks again, PEACE J Capp
RE: Cheapest way to convert ProTools Files to MP3???
Sorry for messy info. Only Mp3 Encoder can go up to 384kbps and does not make L and R oposit. But I can't hear the sounds difference from other APP with 320kbps. What's wrong about my Mp3 Encoder 320kbps? But sounds was really good.....
RE: Cheapest way to convert ProTools Files to MP3???
By the way, this is additional info. You might start organizing your master files on HD. I saved about 1400 AIFF,SDII,Wave files on one partition (about 27g) And I have another partition for only mp3 files (about 2150 files on 15g) Sound Jam is the best APP to organize to play back all files and iTune is the secound choice to organize.
