1. For some reason all of the items in a track move at the same time, when trying to move only one. 2. Whenever I try selecting the Midi Item, it opens up in the mixer instead of a separate window I don't know what on earth I messed up but this is really annoying!

1- Go to "options", and untick any "ripple editing" thing.

1. As gibi25 already mentioned, you most likely have Ripple Editing enabled: 2. If I understand the problem correctly, it sounds like that the MIDI Editor is Docked (instead of floating in a separate window):

2. Right click on bottom of MIDI Editor and untick Dock Window. (Videos are great but can take a long time to get to a simple answer ;)) Steve
