RE: What the heck????

Somehow this got bumped without anybody replying. Fortunately i fixed my problem. In the past week i installed the sb audio drivers from sb instead of the standard win xp audio drivers. This massively screwed up pt. I had assumed that we were all past the whole sb with pt issues. I never seemed to have any problems with pt and sb in the same system since pt 5.3. Once i uninstalled the sb drivers pt seemed to be back to normal, meaning regular pci load (basically nothing). I hope this helps somebody. I had already inserted the windows xp CD to reformat and reinstall but i said let me check one last time, and sure enough it was back to normal. Christian

RE: What the heck????

Remove the soundblaster card and bootup then see if the problem is still there? Reinstall it in a different pci slot. Could be irq conflict or shared irq that is not being seen as a fault by xp. The sb drivers that winxp uses are from creative anyway so using the latest drivers shouldn't be a problem. Try using creatives auto update site, it reads your sbcard and selects the latest drivers and software for all your sblive programs. Also, remember to disengage your mobo's soundcard from the cmos and remove any mobo audio drivers after bootup, if your mobo has audio as well which it probably does.
