isolation headphones??

MessageAuthor

Is there any headphones that provide a good amount of decibal isolation. I'm trying to solve the problem of going deaf while tracking drums(I usually play with earplugs).I beat the crap out of my drums cuz i like the all out attacking drum sound. I know i could get Hearos in ear monitors, but i need something that other people could use in my studio as well. Also loud headphone mixes/metronome clicks can sometimes bleed into drum mics. I know bose makes some sort of noise cancellation headphones but i was wondering if there were any other options. if anybody knows of any please reply.

A trick I have used is to use those headphones that wrap around your ear, yes, I'm talking about those ones for use with a walkman. Then take the earmuffs suggested above and place then on your head with the little earphones now completely inside the earmuff. Blocks out mega sound and you don't have to turn up too loud to hear the music. I also use to use this idea at a job I had working around really loud power tools all day. I was able to really enjoy some tunes without making my ears bleed and still protect my ears from the big saws we ran. Tim Umstead

The Sennheiser HD280 headphones have great isolation. Every drummer I know that has used them bought their own pair.

RE: isolation headphones??

I used once a pair of headphones at a friend's studio that had a water ring that would isolate a LOT, unfortunately I don't remember the brand or model. If I get in touch with my friend again I will report back, I should get a pair too.
