Input Selection problem ?

MessageAuthor

Please note that a simple uninstall/reinstall will not remove your REAPER resource folder with the (possibly faulty) .INI files, you have to remove that folder manually. Alternatively you can start REAPER via 'Start Menu->Programs->Reaper->Reaper (reset configuration data to factory defaults)' to reset REAPER.ini (make a backup first). If your templates etc. show up, your REAPER resource folder must be still on your harddrive (since there's no other place where they could live besides the program folder, which would be the "portable" style install) and you didn't really remove it. Tho what you described sounds much like your input range selection in Preferences->Audio->Device needs to be set to cover all available inputs.

RE: Input Selection problem ?

Thanks Ollie..The thing is that I did exactly as you say it should be done. I removed that entire Resources and app data folder that include those files..THERE was nothing. I copied everything to an external drive and obliterated everything else.. everything . So unless I am missing some point, it remains a major mystery to me. I also have all inputs enabled. I will try your start reset idea and I will let people know if I resolve it. Thanks again ..and any other ideas appreciated.

RE: Input Selection problem ?

Is the input that you can select stereo or mono? You have a 2 input card correct? In the dropdown list are you seeing stereo and mono sub menus? You should see only one option under 'stereo' in the dropdown list, and you'd have 2 options in the mono list. Double check your input and output range. Also be sure there isn't some option in the control panel that isn't allowing you to separate the 2 inputs. Are you using the ASIO driver? I would uninstall the driver and reinstall if you are not seeing any mono inputs.

RE: Input Selection problem ?

Thanks fellas..I have done both the Factory reset option mentioned by Ollie and the Portable install. Both work fine until i import my previous configuration and we are back to my old problem. Does this mean, as I suspect, that I am buggered and its back to rebuilding my Reaper set up from scratch...Oh no.. Again thanks to you all for having a crack at this, Its great.

Cheers Karbo..I am not sure I know how to do any of that but I will have a look and see what I can do. I am especially not sure about "hacking out" my Focusrite USB 6 settings to match. Anyway I will have a crack at finding out.

RE: Input Selection problem ?

yeah great idea from Karbo.... so what he is saying is that when you remove [to another HD location] the bad ini file... and let reaper rebuild a new one that works OK... that new one will have nicely working audio config stuff in it... since it is just a text file, you can open the new [good] on and the old [bad] one... find the lines in the new one that only are dealing with the audio devices, and copy and paste those over the similar lines in the old [bad] file and save that. then use a copy of that 'fixed' ini in the reaper install... just make safety copies and such of the various ini's so you can always go look at the originals... should not be too hard.
