For some reason..when trying to record a track, I am no longer able to change the input on my track. When once I might have input 1 selected and wished to change to Input 2 ..I would just select from the dropdown list. Now when I try to select a different input source..it does not change...and the arrowed options do not appear. I can change to a Midi input..but once having down that..it also will no longer allow me to change input on that track. I end up not being able to change any...?? If ANYONE has any idea what has happened I could sure use your help. I had use Reaper for about a year..had a break for six months...come back and this appears out of the blue. So thanks in advance if you can help.
I have checked my audio and midi input preferences and they are all as they should be..

Hey Hopi.. I use a focusrite USB 6...but I dont think that is the problem. I just downloaded the latest Reaper update onto my external drive..and the problem was gone. I installed my plug ins Great still works. However when I transfered my old config settings..Wham.. the problem manifested on this istallation. So I am buggered if I know. Jeez computers are a mind snapper. I guess I can try manually installing Project templates, cursors, etc ..one and find out that way. Any other thoughts appreciated and thanks for the post Hopi.
I think I may be wrong about it being my transfer of the config files. What I now think might have caused it is this. Once I found that 4.26 appeared to work fine, I tried just installing the update over my old 4.10. It installed but the old problem remained. However when I returned to the ext.drive installation...the previously functioning input selection no longer worked. How or why this is what caused my Ext.drive installation to become faulty like the maindrive ..I dont know.. HELLFIRE..AND HELLHOUNDS!

yeah good... at one time I had a similar problem... suddenly things went haywire... and I still don't know why... nowadays, since I don't need rewire [much] I do the portable install... I have two serpart ones on two diff partitions... since I'm on pc's, that's easy to do and to manage.
Yeah it was weird Hopi. I had to physically drag my resource path folders to the new installation..(still proceeding slowly and checking after each folder)..Whenever I imported them to the new install, using the import export function, the Inputs would again freeze. So I dont know either...thanks for your help. Martin
This is Crazy ..the problem is back. I tried system restore..no change..I completely uninstalled Reaper..Uninstalled the USB 6 DRIVERS..Deleted All program files from the C: drive ..Did a Virgin reinstalled..NO CHANGE. But strangest of all to me was that all my screensets, toolbars, templates and themes etc..all appeared in the virgin installation..How ??? It is all though I had just installed over the earlier installation. The only thing missing was the links to my Media Folder and the projects themselves.!! So I thought maybe somehow the configurations were being dragged from the hard drive I had saved them too..So being a cunning bugger, I disconnected the Drive...Shut down..Started up..and did the whole uninstall , delete thing all over again. Nah..it cant be ...the Virgin Install of 4.26 LOADS UP WITH ALL THE CONGIGURATIONS IN PLACE... This seems even crazier to me than my inability to change Audio inputs.
Hey KARBO...i deleteted the app data directory ..their was not a single reaper file on the C drive...I did it twice. I will try a portable install./.. But this should not be happening if I have nuked the Hard drive of Reaper. It IS WEIRD. thANKS FOR checking in KARB. On we go!
