RE: going mad posted sale of car 3 times then withdrew it $$$$?
Most people I know who have parted with their 240 have regretted it. If it needs fixing the knowledge is here. My picture guides on "how to" are incresasing. I've been busy do some basic servicing today on my GLT plugs, cap rotor and oil change. Photos done will need to upload and host. Also I am nearing finishing a rear end bushing article as well. Will be doing some photos at weekend. Hopefully these should all be up in the next week to ten days. Will be doing some more as well. So there are no excuses, get some tools and start on the easy jobs. You know you won't regret it. There are quite a few here who were virgin mechanics a year or two ago and are now quite knowledgable. Best of luck with the car - whatever you do don't get rid of her! Mike

I have to admit that even as a lover of performance cars when RT Mechanics gave me a 240 as a courtesy car I found it completely charming. Very, very slow, but charming :)

I am just back from a trip to Brittany with my 245GLT. I covered over 2,500 miles in her in a week. The trip down to Dover was one under great pressure having over slept but still made the ferry on time. Coming back yesterday a leisurely trip home became a late blast arriving in Dover at 9.00pm due to the winds. Bed arrived at 3.05 after a non-stop (except for gas) all the way home The whole trip was totally uneventful despite having only done a few hundred miles snce fitting the rplacement engine. For me it was a case of falling in love all over again. The amount I managed to fit her - a mobility scooter + a wheelchair, an oxygenator and our luggage. Add to this all the tools needed to help Paul Clark with his rear axle bushes and there was not an inch of space left. Despite all this the car coped well with the high speed load carrying and us to arrive each time not especially tired. She may be old and high mileage but still well capable of doing what she was intended to do. I'd love to go off again! This is what 240 ownership is about: Mike
