Last night i was playing back some tracks. when the selected region reached the end of its course there would be an ear splitting feedback-like sound. has any one had this problem. i am not using a lot of plugs and the system is pretty powerful so i do not think its the system being overused (which is what my DUC search suggested) thanks in advance.
the only time I ever got that was when I had a system overload. I was messin' around with the master fader (up and down irradically) and that's when it happened. It's your systems way of saying ENOUGH!
I think citi's right, system overload... I've been chugging right along recording something, watching an audio wave being created, when suddenly a super loud screech. And the Audio wave almost fills up the whole track in Edit Window, right at that point. I would always just kindof back up, turn down overall, and start over...

Only got it with Pro Tools Free(ak) and an Echo Mia card. The machine was sitting idle, and then EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Had to do a hard power-off to make it quit. Happened several times, so Back went Mia and home came 001. Hasn't ever happened with LE/001.

I've had it happen to me when importing audio to tracks that were created in Nuendo. That is one horrible sound!! It's like the purest, harshest burst of digital distortion that there is. I hate it when that happens.
With my experience, it occurs if you record several tracks at the same time and quite a few of them peak excessively simultaneously, it tends to overload the system and the I/O goes bunkers.
