V70 1997 starting problems

I have bought a P reg Volvo V70 CD 91k miles. Good conditipon. Recent non volvo service and replacement of crank shaft seal by gearbox specialist following a leak. The car has now developed an intermittent starting problem. I would be most grateful for any suggestions and advice as to where to begin! Thanks

Its a 2.5 20v 170bhp Chris. i have looked at the thread thanks - not sure it is fuel related!!
