Clean install of XP w/ SP 2 and VdubMod tells me on startup it's missing msvcr80.dll I've installed .net 2.0 and the recent security fix. I found this dll in a subfolder in C:\Windows\WinSxS and copied to both vdubmod and system root. It brings a different error message when doing that, something about not being able to load C++ libraries correctly, then it starts. How can I fix this? I've found no help in the forums. Also, why is this happening on a clean install? EDIT: Fixed by downloading a copy of the dll file and installing it in System32. Evidently the version I had (which was larger than the one that actually worked) was incorrect.
Apparently the .Net 2.0 offline installation package does not have the correct version of this file, even with the security hotfix. After installing .net, the file in question was located in the directory I named and not in the system32 directory. Downloading file and putting in the system32 directory seemed to fix everything. Note that this file is smaller in size than the dll in folder WinSxS. Without this correct file, anything attempting to call the C++ runtime libraries will throw an error. I hope this info. will be useful to anyone in a similar situation.
MSVCR80.dll is runtime for Visual C++ 2005. For any of these errors, you should install the runtime for Visual C++ 2005. It is available at microsoft's site. Unlike previous versions of C++, these needs be installed, not just put in your windows\system32 directory.
Hi chipzoller, Thanks a lot for the tip. Really anoying AutoGK will just stop and wait for me to press the OK button before continuing. As I always use to encode during night, I woke up the next day and nothing was done... Tried copying a present DLL also and received the same error as you. Will try first just your dll and if that does not help - the entire visual c++ runtime... luv, leila :) :) :) P.S. Vis C++ runtimes did not help - copying MSVCR80.dll from the link above to system32 did the trick! Thanks a lot!!!
