ReMPEG2 results in no sound

MessageAuthor

I'm trying to learn how ReMPEG2 works by transcoding one of my DVD's VOB's. The VOB is already decrypted using DVD Decrypter and plays just fine from my HD using WinDVD. When I run ReMPEG2 against one VOB, the resultant file is reduced in size (as it should be). When I play the VOB, the video looks good, but there is no sound. I used the ReMPEG2 readme.txt and the link as guides, but no still no luck on playing sound. Any ideas what is going wrong?

RE: ReMPEG2 results in no sound

ReMPEG2 reduces the size of the video part of the VOB file, not the audio. This is why the output is an .m2v file (or should be, I don't remember). In order to see your smaller video file with audio, you need to load the original vob in ifoedit, go to VOB tools and then choose re-mux, where you will be asked the location of the video file. Once the vobs have been re-muxed, you will have your reduced VOBs with audio. To re-cap: ReMPEG2 reduces video files only. This means, it reads the original VOBs, ignores all audio and subtitle info and re-calculates the video for a smaller bitrate. The resulting file has to be re-inserted in the original VOB structure, replacing the old video stream, to produce the new and smaller VOBs. You do that with IfoEdit and the re-mux function. Read the guides and U'll be fine.
