starter change

MessageAuthor

Hi Just getting to know my 460 by tinkering and fiddling generally. Looking ahead for jobs that might need doing, I noticed the starter motor is hiding somewhere in the murky deep darkness. Has anyone found theres? or changed one. By some quirk of fate all my cars generally have this item pack up so i want to know how to replace it now, even though its working fine. My old escort was simple, 3x 13mm bolts, no jack needed , did it outside halfords, took it in for an exchange and was back on the road in 15 mins. The Volvo I take it, is a bit more complex?! thanks for any advice.

My wheel bolts require more torque than your honda makes.

RE: starter change

they're right at the back just under the exhaust manifold 3x 13mm bolts hold it in. depending on what model it is and whats in the way will slow you down taking them out. if its a basic 1.8 it took me 5mins to remove it without the heatshield in the way. 1.7 nearly the same my old one didnt have a heat shield. 1.7turbo? dont get me started lol...
