JS Ducking plugin via volume automation

Inspired by these two plugins and Is this possible to pull off in JS ? In other words, it is a look-ahead gate that doesn't process the actual audio but only writes a volume envelope (track automation), with definable open and close shapes for the envelope points. The rest of the gate would be like ReaGate. The kicker will be the detector filter, which in the case of those two plugins above are optimized for speech it seems. Is this possible with JS ?

Perhaps the developers can comment on whether or not a JS plugin can write volume automation ?

+1 I think this is a great idea. A somewhat similar effect can already be achieved using parameter modulation. It would be much slicker to have a compression/gate type plugin that wrote automation similar to it's amplitude performance. One could get the settings sounding correct over the entire program, write automation and then tweak the parts that need help. Much faster than mouse drawing a volume envelope over the entire section.

Not quite sure if this is what you're looking for, but the free Blue Cat's Digital peak meter can write volume automation envelopes.
