You also posted at KVR yesterday, didn't you? I wrote a reply, but when I attempted to submit it, KVR was down and out. I guess 'solo in front' is what you're looking for. Use 'solo' as a search string in the 'preferences'-window and you ought be rewarded. :)
after reading through the progress of that thread at KVR and then reading your post here again I'm entirely confused about what you actually want/need...
--------------------- i need a shit-load of dimes.
Yes,I know its diffecult to explain sometimes, but let me try again. I have 24 tacks recorded on Reaper,I have a singer ready to sing,I start the playback and hit record and the singer starts singing. So far so good. Then I decide to listen to the guitar track, while the singer is recording, because I want to adjust the eq of the guitar a little bit. I normally press the solo button on the guitar track, and I can normally hear the guitar all by it self. But with Reaper,it cuts/mutes all other tracks;leaving my singer looking like a question mark, wondering why the sound disappeard. I have routed all tracks to a cue mix hardware output,so that pressing any solo button should not affect the cue mix.But it does. Was that any clearer??

Im not sure what you want either. Solo means alone, only, so in every piece of hardware of software, pressing solo means play this track only and mute everything else. Perhaps on your old studio setup, the solo track was isolated from other tracks, so you could still hear your cue tracks -which were not muted because they areon a different desk/software or isolated from being muted in another way? Pressing solo cuts/mutes all other tracks. Is this really the way it is in Reaper???? This is the way it is everywhere all the time. Well I have never encountered anything which is different. Explain your track setup in more detail and maybe we can help you more. I am not a recording expert, in fact I never record anything, just sequence. I am pretty sure solo means alone, only , mute all else, in all cases. Unless overnight my knowledge of the english language and whole memory in my brain has been corrupted.
Hi sellmestory, Havent tried this yet, but i think you could send all needed tracks to another track and use this as your cue mix. Disable its master/parent send in the i/o panel and assign a hardware out to your headphones. During recording, youd need to have the 'cue track' soloed (and maybe the master?). Then you should be able to solo other tracks as needed. ...i think. Lawrence has got a thread going in your honour that you might wanna add something too.

Hi Billoon, The problem is that I have done what you said, but as soon as i press the solo button on one selected track,it mutes all others,so it does not work. I know Lawrence has raised the question,I appreciate that, because I really dont understand why its such a hazzle to make it work like a normal solo function.
Well, it wont mute the 'cue' track if that is soloed as well, as i suggested. ;) Go ahead, read the post again and give it a shot. If theres anything you arent sure about, ask away. :)

That is the normal solo function. Muting everything else. Yes really it is. You can solo multiple tracks at once. Say you have 10 tracks, you press solo on track 1 and then press solo on track 2 as well, tracks 1 and 2 will play and 3-10 will be muted. This might be what you want?
Hi Billoon One step closer, but still confused. I have now managed to leave the cue-track untouched when pressing solo on other tracks, while the cuetrack is soloed too. But,pressing solo on other tracks ,does not solo them now! Any advice what to do now?
