Checking Mixes on Smaller Junky Monitors

Any consensus out there on the best way to check mixes for boomboxes, radio, etc? It used to be Auratones....I only have 1031s and no alternate pair....just wondered if anyone could suggest some small real world speakers as a another reference....I've actually heard over in Roger Nichol's forum that some Radio Shack (Minimus?) speakers are good for this....thanks in advance....

I use the Radio Shack Minimus as my crappy speakers. They are perfect for this purpose. tbird

radioshack minimus are becoming the standard..i actually like the audix pm3s...or the pm2s . but nothing beats a real boombox for checking how it sounds on a boombox.....

NS10's as usual. Something smaller would be a combination: Yamaha MSP10(computer speakers self powered) Optimus Minimus 7(the only problem is that they have been discontinued). The lastest versions don't sound the same. I also have a real cool Aiwa boombox. With the bass and high knobs to see what premastering will do.

I use a Sony boombox.
