1990 760 gle rear wheel bearings

while doing a bit of checking on the rear end of the old 760 gle, I noticed that the wheel hub assembly can be moved in and out slightly(12 thou endfloat to be exact) I know the bearings on the back are taper roller bearing,so is this normal,..plus there is a slight rattle/knock coming from the rear end Any ideas?

Hi, From memory when i changed my rear discs earlier this year my hubs had some discernable endfloat, but no noise, hope this helps
