please help

MessageAuthor

:hissyfit: my 240 decided not to start earlier this week.I just drove it into the garage the night before & the next morning it just didnt want to know.I couldnt smell any petrol but i could hear the fuel pump makes its usual noise when i turned the key so i assumed it was the fuel pump relay.Well ive just put a brand new one on & it still wont start! i've checked fuses & changed, dizzy cap, leads & rotor.spark plugs look fine.It was driving perfectly up until this point.Im absolutely gutted because im supposed to be moving back to england in a fortnight & if i dont sort it im going to have to leave it here! please any advice?

called green flag out, after much cursing & swearing(mechanic not me)it fired up! took 20 minutes & it was his last attempt! He seems to think it was a blockage in the fuel filter/line that finally shifted as there was no petrol coming through till it started up.So i think its time to change the fuel filter!

Hi simon glad to hear its sorted, dont know how long you have had volvos but as a rule if you look after them then they dont normally let you down,of course they do have problems but they seem to keep on running even when neglected.mine hadnt had the bonnet lifted for about a year when i brought it.oil low,no auto fluid in box, water level non existant, fourth gear solenoid not working(stuck in third)(autobox)but despite all this it still ran and after a major service its running silky smooth and ultra reliable.:Banane32:
