Hey everyone, I have a B&W G3 450 running OS 9.0.4 with the multimedia update 1.0, Quicktime 4.1.2, PT LE 5.0.1, and Apple DVD player 1.3 with the DVD decoder daughtercard attached by Apple when they sent me my computer. I can't remember experiencing more grief over anything computer related than I have over this DVD player since day one. That said, it had been working great for a couple of months and then I got cocky and decided to update everything (mentioned above). Well, PT is working fine and so is the rest of my machine but my DVD player is giving me the error message: - "Apple DVD Player cannot open because it cannot find the required hardware." I have tried reinstalling the DVD player from the OS 9 disc and checked the Apple TIL with no results that are helpful. Also when I lauch the Apple System Profiler it does find the hardware that is required but alas, DVD player will not get its scrawny little ass past that damn error message (above). So if anyone knows anything related to this problem please post what you can. I truly appreciate your assistance in pushing off the inevitable heart attack that is coming because of this pain in the bootie. Thanks again. Ryan
jimmyk, I'm already running the 9.0.4 update and can hear Apple CD Player through 001 outputs, but I did not see the "related DVD update" you mention in your reply. Do you have a URL for that update, or a specific place on apple website? Thanks for your reply Ryan

jimmyk, I found the "related DVD update" you mentioned, DVD Software Player 2.2, but that is the software only update and is not compatible with the B&W G3 Hardware decoder that I have. Thanks for your post but I already knew about that update and it doesn't apply to me. ryan

I finally tried to run a DVD on a new G4/400 with the audio out of the Digi001. I ran into even worse delays in audio sync than with on the old 350's before the software updates. Audio is fine if I run the movie through the mac speaker (and I have all the current updates running for the DVD player 2.2.1, OS 9.0.4). Anyone else noticed this?
Well now I know I'm not the only one with these sort of problems. My DVD keep giving me a message something along the lines of: "This Macintosh does not support the Apple DVD player - Error 301" In fact I think that's exactly what it says. I couldn't get a DVD to play for about the first three months I had my machine: G4-450 DP - 256mb ram, etc, etc. My machine had to go in for a repair and the guy in the store simply put my DVD movie in the machine that i supplied him with and it played, making me look like an idiot. I took it home, it still gave me that stupid Error 301 message. Unfortunately my brand new Mac broke down again a week later and was in again for repairs, again the guy simply put the disc in the machine and it started playing by itself. Now I really feel like an idiot, I took it home and hooked up everything EXCEPT the Digi001 interface. Voila, my DVD worked for the first time ever at home. I then turned off the machine and hooked up the Digi001 interface. The DVD worked again. I'm now confused what's going on. By the way: I too got terrible audio sync problems when the audio was coming out of the digidesign hardware. Digi-tech-support: Could you please shed some light on this problem for us???? Anyway, Now I think everything is working fine. One day later the DVD starts giving me that damn error 301 message again. I havn't been able to get a DVD to play since. So, since I bought my machine in August, I've had a total of 1 day in which I could get the DVD to play. If anyone understands why it's doing this, could you please help out. You can email me directly if you like. Thanks in advance to anyone who maybe able to help. Regards, Matt.
