Moving projects causes Reaper to crash

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a Reaper bug or user error... I have two installations of Reaper (latest version), one on a desktop PC (XP SP3) connected to a Saffire LE, the other on a laptop using the onboard soundcard (and sometimes the Saffire). The project is tiny, 3 tracks, some VSTs and VSTis, nothing more. I started something on the laptop, copied the project file to a USB stick and copied that to the desktop PC. When loading the project file Reaper crashes with the MS message "Reaper has encountered a problem and needs to close". I do get a log which shows the Reaper plugins, some checksums, etc. Now, both Reaper installations are working independently without problem but I can't move projects from laptop to PC, has anyone experienced the problem before? Thanks for your help in advance, please let me know if you need more info. Edit: This setup worked before at some point but I haven't touched Reaper for the last 6 months so obviously something has changed.

Which plugins exactly are involved? What are the specs of both computers? What is crashing module and the offset in the crash log?

I'm using refx Vanguard and Linplug's RMV. The desktop one is a quad core AMD, 2GB RAM. The laptop is a dualcore Pentium, 4GB RAM. Reaper.exe is the app, ModName is rmv.dll (ah!), modver 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000ac800 Not sure what that means, does that tell you something (apart from RMV being to blame?) Thanks

At least that rules out the top suspects (e.g. project created on single core computer using plugin with multicore bug crashes when transferred to multicore computer) and it points clearly to RMV. I have no idea what could cause RMV to crash, but do both copies on both computers have the same output configuration? Or some other setting different? Something that could make the other copy choking on config data chunks within the project?

Settings are different as different audio interfaces are used. Paths and installation folders are different. I figured out that in addition the version of RMV are different on the two computers, not a good idea. Tried to update the one on the PC, prompted me for the license number which I entered, then it crashed. Oh well, at least I now know which application is to blame and I'll try reinstalling and if that doesn't help go to the Linplug site. That was me trying to get into music after half a years time of absence. Oh well, sometimes music and computers just sucks. Thanks for your help!

I meant output configuration of RMV itself - I guess the number of individual outputs has to be configured like on most other multi-out VSTi. Audio interface/configuration shouldn't be a problem as this is configured and saved per Reaper copy and not per project. Two different versions of RMV may be the culprit indeed. Hope you get the registration issue solved.
