Indeed that's a nice idea, what Jim Roseberry describes :). I use a very old PC myself, an AMD AthlonXP3000+, and always see how far I can go with this one, is it runs rock solid like your laptop. For mixing I use my dual core laptop if necessary. By the way, since I bought a few extremely cpu-hog-synths like Synthsquad from FXpansion, er, even the dual core laptop isn't fast enough for some of the sounds :D. But the old machine is superb, many synths and fx work, I record my guitar into it and can't see a reason why I should buy a newer one (besides those new synths^^)
