Cant get Virtual midi keyboard to send to Kontakt

When using K-5 and Virtual midi keyboard ( computer keyboard) I select send all keyboard input to the virtual midi keyboard, however, soon as I click on kontakt, The key presses aren't being registered/ sent to the plugin. In prior versions this did not happen. any clue?> using the newest version

rt clk at bottom of VMK... select this: Send all keyboard input Virtual MIDI keyboard (even when other windows active) V Now me.. I have that as an icon in a toolbar that calls up the VMK with that setting.. so when I want the VMK, I clk that icon, ... clk it again and the VMK is gone...

already tried that, thats the problem i'm having. i select that option and then click on kontakt and none of the key presses are sent to the plugin. even after selecting " send input etc.."

It works perfectly here also... and I suspect Tod has your answer in that you have some kind of MIDI channel mismatch going on... If having Kontakt GUI as the in focus window and that killing your VMK is the only issue, then something else is amiss... For me, once the VKM is active and set to send and keys regardless of other windows... it don't matter what other window is in focus. I have it set to the icon so that I can quickly kill the VMK when I want to send a key press to something else and then bring back the VMK.

IDK whats going on. On earlier versions of reaper it seem to work. I know i'm doing it right. When I push a key on keyboard when the VKB is of focus it sends midi to the plugin ( I can see the plugin react to my key presses) but when I make kontakt the focus it forgets or something that I set the VKB to " sent input ....."

Nope, that won't be it. What channels are your Instruments in Kontakt set to receive? Also, add the MIDI Monitor script to a Kontakt Multiscript slot (the scroll icon above and to the right of the instruments) and see exactly what MIDI is being received by Kontakt. And, perhaps you could compress a simple problem project file (no audio samples needed) into a ZIP file and post it here as an attachment so we can have a look at it and see what's (not) happening?

this makes me wonder if you somehow you have set the key range for VMK to something that is out of range for the Kontakt instrument... again, it works exactly as expected here no matter what window is in focus

I do not have Kontakt 5 here so cannot tell what instrument was loaded or what MIDI channel it was on. But when I load Kontakt 4 and an instrument and click a key on Reaper's Virtual MIDI Keyboard all is OK.

dl'd your project but can't open it cuz I only use the 64 bit version and don't have the 32 bit installed... bummer...

^^^^ Aren't the file names the same (just in a different folder)? Edit the .rpp file and change the vst dll name?
